2008 International Symposium on Safety Science and Technology (2008ISSST) was be held in Beijing, China, on September 24-27, 2008. The Symposium was a continuation of the previous five international symposia held in Beijing (1998 and 2000), Tai¡¯an(2002), Shanghai(2004) and Changsha(2006) respectively. The aim of the Symposium is still to provide an up-to-date discussion in the field of safety science and technology in general. All papers presented at the symposium have been published in Progress in Safety Science and Technology (vol. VII).
